Ransomware Resilience and Incident Response Readiness

Ransomware continues to devastate healthcare operations, halting services and jeopardizing patient safety. The key to surviving an attack is preparation, not panic.

Begin with solid data backup and recovery processes. Backups should be encrypted, tested regularly, and stored offline. Tabletop exercises can simulate response scenarios and reveal weaknesses in communication or escalation plans.

Establish a defined chain of command for cyber incidents. Identify decision-makers, communication leads, and external partners in advance. When an attack occurs, speed and coordination are critical.

The goal isn’t to eliminate every risk, it’s to ensure your organization can continue delivering care even under duress. A well-rehearsed response plan turns chaos into control.
